Samye Ling Buddhist Retreat, Holy Island

Celtic Christians sought the solitude of Holy Island to support their prayer and meditation. The powerful nature of these places becomes charged with the energy of spiritual practice which can touch the heart and inspire the mind. The link forged with Tibet's ancient spiritual tradition is re-awakening Holy Island to its sacred purpose. Separated from the busy world, this sacred island will provide accommodation for both short and long retreats. It is a place to experience inner peace, to discover creativity and find meaning in this precious human life.

I came across this link by accident, honest! but it proved very interesting. You get a free trial, and can meet quite a number of people in that time.

Be patient when filling out the forms, you won't realise it, but that information is so useful when you get cruising.  Anyone writes you, you can check them out instantly, all their likes and dislikes. You also get an idea of personality from how they come across. A tip: if you post a photo you get an extra seven days in your trial. Another tip: when your time's up, just go right back in and fill out the forms again, slightly differently of course, and use a different email address. It's fun!

[Tao Disk] Get an I Ching reading live on the web - of course it's only a computer program and not the real thing, but if you want to make your mind up in a hurry about something, this might do the trick. For those of you who know about such things, it follows the Richard Wilhelm translation, and copes with moving lines.

Varaly's Vep - my 1999 web - click the spinning I Ching logo to get in

Varaly's First Vep my very first web knocked up in Microsoft Publisher - it was taken off by Virgin when they upgraded their site but you can still access if through this link. You'll arrive at the 'Witch's Moon Calendar'  - click on one of the little insects carrying banners to access other pages. I can particularly recommend 'highlights of a misspent life'

lilly.jpg (19175 bytes) William Lilly, the greatest astrologer this country ever produced. Visit his site, The English Merlin. I am fortunate to have his book, written in 1647, reproduced in facsimile. It is fascinating to see the old writing, with 's' written as 'f' and the funny old language. That aside, it contains good solid truths, and rules for judging charts. In Lilly's day, astrologers did not pussyfoot around, they told you if you were going to die next Wednesday from an arrow in the eye shot by a man in a red cap. I wanted to do that too. Well, maybe I'm not that good, but I love answering questions with this book, which is what it is mainly intended for, judging horary charts. You can find out 'who will die first, a man or his wife' and 'whether the sick would live or not' - questions which still intrigue us today.
